An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and motivated Geologist to join the Geology team in our Mining Department. .
The role covers all aspects of Production Geology, from logging of grade control drill holes, through modelling of drilling data utilising Conditional Simulation techniques, to designing ore blocks and supervising their accurate and safe extraction. Your key job tasks will include supervision of ore mark-outs and ore block excavation. You will design ore blocks for mining benches, log and validate drill hole data, and utilise MP3 modelling software to provide accurate grade control models. You will be required to undertake geology-based projects and provide support and assistance to senior team members as required. We are looking for someone with the experience and ability to mentor junior members of the team.
As the successful candidate, you will possess:
Tertiary qualifications in Geological Sciences or equivalent
Understanding of geostatistical principles
Experience in training Geotechnicians to best practice
Experience in computerised modelling and mine geology software (Vulcan a preference)
You will demonstrate a flexible approach to your work and a commitment to contributing within a team environment. Your above average communication skills, together with your proven ability to work unsupervised, establish work plans and achieve deadlines are essential for success in this position.
