PURPOSE
Control and manage all the Greenfield and Brownfield Exploration work.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
An understanding of the tenement geology and development of geological models.
Plan and manage all exploration work in tenements.
The effective of development of budgets, work programmes, BUP, staff requirements and forward planning.
Managing and supervising the exploration team.
Managing and supervising relevant contractors and making sure that they adhere to standards.
Building a good network system and beneficial relationship with other exploration companies and government institutions. e.g. ministry of minerals and energy, universities, and other geological training facilities.
Building good communication with other sections and departments. Creating an interactive role for exploration in the department and in the greater team.
Developing and supporting other staff in the exploration team and facilitating their further technical development with the geology manager.
Writing all geological technical reports and recommending areas of additional resources for the mine, to the Geology Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
B.Sc. in Geology
Minimum of 7 years experience in Greenfields (grassroots) and Brownfields (mine-lease) exploration with a further of 4 years of experience in supervisory management.
Experience or background in Greenstone hosted gold deposits is essential. A high level of understanding of geological software e.g. ArcGIS and or MIPS, Oasis Montaj and Datamine skills is necessary.
Experience in the managing of drilling programmes and the geological interpretation thereof.
Good experience in project initiation from reconnaissance stage to resource drilling stage.
An understanding of geophysical and geochemical applications in exploration.
CONTRACT STATUS
The incumbent will be offered a married or single status contract.
REPORTING TO
The incumbent will report to the Geology Manager.
REMUNERATION
The successful expatriate candidate will be appointed on an expatriate 2 year contract, which may be renewed after the 2 year period, regular leave break will apply. The successful candidate would be offered a two-year US dollar based salary.
