Internationally renowned Mining Company is looking to fill the senior roll of Mine Manager
to coordinate all geological and mining activities in Eastern Africa.
Duties:
Coordinating effective short and long term planning, scheduling, surveying and grade control.
Ensuring effectiveness and productivity of technical and supervisory staff, consultants and contractors.
Ensuring the appropriate levels of interaction with Department Heads, particularly those responsible for production occurs, so as to achieve or better budgetary and forecast targets and objectives.
Effectively lead and manage the department.
Ensuring preparation of all statutory plans and reports.
Provide comprehensive and timely contributions to weekly, monthly and annual reports.
The constant seeking of continuous improvement opportunities for the company.
Ensures that geology and mining costs are controlled and minimized.
Ensures that all statutory requirements associated with the mining operation are compiled.
Ensures that a high standard of safety, health, radiation and environment is achieved.
Achieve a positive and productive employee relations environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
To be in charge of the department comprising of professionals, technicians and management of mining contractors and professional consultants.
Education/ Experience:
Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from recognized tertiary institution essential.
Ability to hold South African or similar Registered Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency.
Minimum of 15 years experience in a mining operation with at least 5 years experience in hard
rock surface mining.
Have at least 3 years experience as head of a Mining Department.
Language Skills:
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills in English essential.
Mathematical/Computer Skills:
Good mathematical and computer skills.
Competent with word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software programs.
Familiar with well known survey, mine planning and scheduling computer software packages
Such as Datamine, Surpac, Micromine and project scheduling software like Microsoft Project.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Member of professional association preferred.
Valid driver’s certificate.
First aid certificate.
